Nicola Mannini interview

How would you classify your music?

If talking about my current release, I would classify it as a fusion of house, dance, and pop genres, whereas my personal preference in terms of performance is quite diverse. I often find myself drawn to eclectic sets between funky-house, soulful, disco, deep house or tech house tracks, without a particular preference.

Who are some of your top 5 musical influences?

Choosing my top five musical influences is a tough task for me since I have a deep love for a huge range of music genres. However, I cannot overlook Funky, Disco, Dance, and Pop from the 70s to the 90s.

And in regard of influences in the form of a person, I should mention that I’ve had the privilege of working alongside some renowned DJs, but it was in 2005 when I had the most inspiring experience alongside Joe T Vannelli. His profound professionalism and attention to any details, left a lasting impression on me. Moreover, during the early stages of my musical journey, I regarded him as a musical deity, constantly seeking inspiration from his exceptional talent and expertise. Last but certainly not least, I must express my admiration for my best friend Michele Pusceddu, known as Michael Push. Michele is an exceptionally talented musician, songwriter, and producer. His unwavering support has been instrumental in shaping my musical journey, and I am always mesmerised when I witness his dedication and skills whilst working on his music productions as he can turn every musical endeavor into pure gold with the magic of his musical genius.

What do you want fans to take from your music?

I genuinely hope that my music will become a source of pure joy and elation for listeners, ultimately serving as the soundtrack to their summer. I want for the fans to be captivated by the melodies and uplifted by the overall energy of the track. Above all, I’d love to bring happiness through my songs, forging a deep connection and leaving an indelible mark on their hearts ?

What is the best concert you have been to? What do you like most about playing live?

When it comes to a concert I must say Subsonica, an Italian Electronic-Rock band. They always deliver unforgettable performances, despite the stark contrast of their musical genres with the club scene. However, when it comes to DJs, the best ever was Louie Vega at the decks and his wife Anané singing live, absolutely astonishing!

As for playing live, I can confidently say that I absolutely love it. It’s more than just a performance to me; it’s a vibrant celebration of life itself. When I hit that play button, I enter my own world, fully immersed in what I am most passionate about. The act of playing live allows me to transcend my anxiety and panic disorder, leaving them behind as I focus solely on the music. Each song in the set becomes a joyful experience, and I find immense fulfillment in connecting with the crowd and sharing my love for music as I never want the feeling to end.

How have you evolved as an artist over the last year?

Over the past year, I have experienced a significant evolution as an artist. One notable development was making the decision to embark on producing my own track, which filled a void I felt in my artistic journey. This decision marked a turning point and allowed me to explore new dimensions of creativity and self expression.

Another exciting milestone during this period was being lined up to perform at a UK festival, (Queen’s Yard Summer Party in Hackney Wick, London). This opportunity has been immensely inspiring and has motivated me to keep pushing my boundaries, continuously seeking new avenues to share my passion for music.

If you could meet, play a gig, co-write a song, have dinner, have a drink with any band or artist (dead or alive) who would it be?

This is a no-brainer question, Michael Jackson!

What’s next for you? Stay tuned, hehe!
